This is a 'garage-days' opportunity to join the founding team at Peekabond and be an equal sparring partner with the founder. As a co-founder and CTO, you will help create significant impact in the lives of young children and families worldwide. You will set the direction of the company and take it from zero-to-one and set the acceleration for high-growth. You bring high level and hands-on experience in tech companies either on the engineering side managing end-to-end execution of building consumer tech platforms OR in Product/UX. You bring top skills around product, mobile, video, UI/UX, specifically in the FamilyTech, EdTech or social media industry, and are able to lead a tech team.

Peekabond's true motivation derives from the vision that having a great life is the sum of tiny moments and the relations one has in its life, and we are here to facilitate those moments even if you cannot be together physically. These days, it takes a global village to raise a child. Peekabond wants to make the world a better place by bringing families who are apart closer (see also: impact of Peekabond).
• Innovation that matters. Peekabond will become the expert in knowing how to bond cross-border and across generations. We will know what type of content or games are most effective and we will make it easier and fun for families to be closer even if they cannot be close.
• Massive market opportunity & momentum. The kids apps industry is estimated at $80 billion and expected to grow with 8x by 2024. Our initial target is to help families with young kids who don’t have their loved ones physically close (for example expats, parents working in the military/internationally, divorced parents, etc), but since the corona crisis any family with young kids can be our target.
• Founder Profile. Anieke Lamers brings in 8+ years experience in investing in B2C and impactful tech scaleups. Being an aunt of a niece in Australia has taught her about the pain of being apart from young kids in your family (see Facebook post). With fragmented kid photo sharing services without interaction with kids, keeping in touch with kids at a distance is hard. She decided to roll-up her sleeves and build a mobile app from the ground-up that would have a significant impact for families globally. She started Peekabond in the summer of 2020 and is fully invested in making Peekabond successful.

About Peekabond

Peekabond is building a platform, first consisting of an app that facilitates a more frequent interaction between young kids and family/loved ones at a distance. A peek a day can make a difference in building a bond. We help families to record personal video messages around fun & educational topics for the young children to watch and learn at their own pace

Progress so far

• Many potential customers/families have been interviewed to validate the proposition and ~100 families are waitlisted to start using the app. There is a network effect and we expect between 5-10 users per active family implying up to 1000 people currently waitlisted; The first user feedback/reviews are very positive and customers can’t wait to start using our product;
• A first online marketing campaign test has been conducted on social media which resulted in good first CAC;
• As part of San-Francisco based accelerator On Deck (for which no equity was given away), we have $10k of AWS credits still available to use;
• Investment: well networked with interested angel investors - we will be raising a smaller angel round of ~€150k in the next months and expect to raise a bigger (at least €500k round) in order to launch the app in the summer of 2021;
• Impact Advisory Board has been established with scientific child development experts (professor and researcher) and ethical UX expert with over 40+ years of experience in scientific research concerning early childhood bonding;
